Google Search 2.0

August 11, 2009

Google has unveiled a new version, the next generation, of its ultra popular search engine.  This is only a development version but, it will give you a glimpse of what google has been working on to counteract the competition that Bing is sure to bring its way.  As an average user you probably won’t notice any differences right away, which I suppose means its doing its job, but be assured that this is a complete upgrade of Google Search.

“For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google’s web search. It’s the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions. The new infrastructure sits “under the hood” of Google’s search engine, which means that most users won’t notice a difference in search results. But web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we’re opening up a web developer preview to collect feedback.”

Feel free to try it out yourself here, let me know if you notice any differences, improvements, etc.
